The Southeastern Annual Conference held its 34th Annual Session on April 10-11 at Roberta Evangelical Church in Roberta, Georgia. The highlight of this year’s conference was the election of a new Conference Superintendent as Superintendent Eckhardt stepped won after 11 years of service as the Conference Superintendent.
The conference elected Rev. Phil McCoy, pastor of Gracepointe Church in Ft. Valley, as the new Conference Superintendent. Rev. McCoy and his Beth, both native Georgians, have a long history with The Evangelical Church, mostly in the Pacific Conference.
Rev. McCoy was ordained in the Pacific Conference in 1986. He served from 1986-1991 for World Gospel Mission as the Director of the Portland Peniel Mission. In 1991 he was assigned as pastor of the East Vancouver Community Church in Vancouver, Washington. He served this church until 2014. In 2014 he transferred to the Southeastern Conference to serve as pastor of Gracepointe Church.
Rev. McCoy and his wife Beth bring a great deal of valuable ministry experience to the Southeastern Conference. They have both served in various conference positions in the Pacific Conference. He has served as the Chair of the conference Board of Trustees under three different superintendents and as the conference Director of Missions. He also served for a time as the denominational representative on the Board of Directors of World Gospel Mission. He currently serves as the President of the denominational Board of Trustees. Beth has been the head of the women’s mission program and President of the Pacific Conference Evangelical Women.
