Pastor Randy was born in Canada in a small town called Rosthern in the Province of Saskatchewan. His father was a pastor in the Evangelical United Brethren Church. When Randy was 2 years old, his father was transferred to Medicine Hat, Alberta. Randy was saved at the age of 8 at the altar of his home church, while attending Hillcrest Evangelical Church. Randy struggled with God’s call to the ministry. It was in college that he fully committed his life to the Lord and began preparing for the ministry.
Pastor Randy graduated from Hillcrest Christian College (now Rocky Mountain Bible College in Calgary, Alberta) in 1979 majoring in Christian Education. During his last year of college he worked as a Minister of Music at south View Church of God. After graduation he pastored for 2 years in Yakima, Washington as an Associate Pastor. Then, Randy attended Western Evangelical Seminary (now George Fox Graduate School of Theology) in Portland, Oregon. During seminary he worked as Youth Pastor and then as Assistant Pastor at Tremont Evangelical Church. He earned a Masters of Divinity at Western Evangelical Seminary.
On May 17, 1984 Pastor Randy and Linda moved to Bend as church planters. They spent the next 31 years in ministry at New Hope Church in Bend while they raised their two sons. Today their sons are married and fathers themselves; Randy and Linda have three granddaughters. In the summer of 2015, Randy was elected the Superintendent of the Pacific Conference.
